New year again

| No Comments | No TrackBacks
New year again, so many things have happened and will happen soon! Time just like that, old ones passed by quickly and new ones will come one by one, no waiting time and no waste! (At least I hope so)

Always talk about new year new goal, at this moment, the global economy crisis, more or less has some influences on everyone. Things are getting expensive, to live is not easy.

Work hard, I think the only thing that people will say to survive! No lazy ones will get good things, of course except some really lucky ones!

So good luck to all the people love me and I love!

5th year

Is 5 years long? how many 5 years you will have in your life? and how many of the memorable 5 years you will have, either happy or sad?

This is all unknown and I think people wants to know the answer upfront before they experience them. This is life - full of happiness, sadness, surprises... if you know what will happen in the next years, is it still fun to live then?

I am very happy I had very good 5 years with someone who really love and cherish me, I do love and care back and hope the happiness last forever!

Today is a special day for me!

Olympic games

Last night the 29th Olympic game is opened. First time in Beijing China, I felt so proud. I am from Beijing and I am Chinese!

It was an wonderful opening, the color and the people, the movement is all over the bird nest ( the stadium). I wish I could be there to see it, but I now it would not be easy since I am not in China and I did not even try to get a ticket.

I am happy that it showed to the world Chinese can do the best for Olympic games and for the world culture, although sometimes other countries just criticized a lot  about the political status and so on... I mean nothing  is easy since we had so different culture than the western countries, situation is different, no one can judge just base on one thing.

Anyway I am proud of being Chinese, after I watched the opening and after I have been lots of places in the world!
Singapore is a garden country, everywhere you can see palm and coconut trees, flowers...just like to live in a big garden.

Last Friday I went to a garden festival, it was a indoor garden show, designers from all over the world to design their gardens, very beautiful and romantic, all these flowers and colors, seems like they have the magical of alcohol, you can be drunk and just want to lie down besides the flower sea.

Also there was an orchid show, different kinds of orchids, some are international prize winner, I have never imagine that there can be so many different kinds, colors and shapes of orchids. Luckily, one of the friend she also went there and bought a orchid for me.:) I love it!

Flowers are good, maybe it is also a good sign for the coming Beijing Olympic Games!

Pulau Ubin

Yesterday the weather is good in the morning, sun is shining but not too hot. So we went to the Pulau Ubin (granite island). It is not far from where I live, I could see it just out side the window. Well, it does not take long at all to be at the ferry point, then taking the bum boat (small fishing boat) about ten minutes. It is the island with durian smell all the way and full of tropical trees...

It is getting really humid and hot in the tropical forest, people like to rent or bring their bikes there to have a really relax time, far from the crowded city and noisy traffic. We walked along the trail into the forest, quiet just can hear the birds and wild chickens... Great place but unfortunately too many mosquitoes, I got four or five red big trophies they gave me.

Took the boat back to the city because we would like to go to a little girl's one year birthday party. We have met her parents in carefree, US one and half year ago. Now they move to Singapore also, what a small world! Lovely little girl and we spent a good night together!

Japanese cooking

Normally I am a person who does not really like cooking, but thanks for my cousin, she bought me lots of Japanese cooking ingredients and also became my first teacher.:)

Now I already tried cooking Okonomiyaki (Pancake named as you wish, just put things you like in) and Oyako-don (Chincken and egg on rice). They were both quite successful and of course I will try them again and again. I had a Japanese cooking book which bought in Japan (written in English), a very good and practical one. Think now I am getting really love to cook!

Found a Japanese supermarket here in Singapore also, from the website I found many many things from Japan, so do not need to worry to run out of them.

Well, things changed so quick and person also can change very quick! Waiting for my next successful cooking.

Book translating

In the beginning of this year I started to translate a book from Ken Schwaber, from English to Chinese. It is a very technical book about Scrum, while I have attended the scrum master training and knew some concepts of it. But translating to Chinese is a little bit different, it is also related very much to software development which I have not much experiences in, but I am willing to learn and try to look things about it from different places. I think scrum alliance and InfoQ are all quite good places where can give you more knowledge about newly software development ways and project management method.

Ok, do not talk too technical, that is not my strong point yet, sometimes I got bored by people keep talking about it. But from my heart, I would like to know about different things and especially something that is so modern and so related to the daily life.

Well, the translating is finished now. Hope the book will be in Chinese market soon.

Summer time in Europe

After Japan, we went to Europe again. Summer is always nice there!

Finland, the place where I have lived for two years, back again! This time we visited three cities, all are small city for me. But summer time always make it feels so good, nice weather-not too cold and too hot, green trees and beautiful flowers. Summer is short here but nice and make people cherish it more!

Poland, the first time I was there I did not really like the place. But this time we were in Warclaw, an old city with some beautiful buildings and churches.

Now I am back in Singapore already for two weeks, things are going slow but I am trying my best!
Well, one week is short to explore the whole country, if I have time I need to get back and to experience more...

Strange things I found or experienced in Japan:

1. So modern country, but peoples skill of speaking language is quite weak. And for me, I looked not much different than them, so they assume that I speak Japanese and even sometimes I said sorry I do not, they seems not believe me and keep talk in Japanese. I found that strange! And such developed country without communicate with the outside world.

2. They are really pet friendly, rainy days you could see the special carriage just for your pet to sit in, just like a baby carriage which inside is not a baby but a dog or something. That is really amuse me!

3. So polite nation, everyone bow to each other and smile and obey all the rules. But as I saw on the street there are posters about series killers a lot, is the politeness or what make people gone crazy faster?

4. Asian people by nature are more conservative than westerns. But here on the street girls and boys are keep sending out ads about you can contact with beautiful lady and sexy man... Well, maybe not all are related to sex, I heard they have some club for women to hire men to listen her talk, since her husband would not or does not have the time to listen. Isn't that interesting?

5. Food wise I liked almost all. Just the potion is really small, I wonder if all the others are full since I am still a little bit hungry after eating eight small potions of food. Maybe they just have really healthy living style - not eat too much for dinner!

6. Womens carriage, for the subway they have one carriage just indicate that only women or children can enter.Special care for women and also to protect them from ugly dirty men.

There will be more if I stayed longer, I found it is really interesting. Even China and Japan are so close to each other, but still so many differences!

Japan trip 2 - Sendai

It is the chance for me to experience the japanese fast train - Shinkansen. From Tokyo to Sendai just need about 100 minutes, the highest speed can be 300km/h. Bought the tickets and contacted my cousin, she lived in Sendai with her family already for a long time, although I call her my cousin, we have the same family name - sun, it is more like real sisters. Tickets price is a little surprise to me, but it is ok since it is a good experience and I could see my cousin again after five years...

Got up early to catch the train, the Tokyo train station can be the most messy and crowded one in the world, but we were lucky since that day was Sunday, amazingly quiet... Wait for the train and try to figure out where we should go, everything seems fine without much communicate and understanding...

In the train, it was really quiet, mobile phones are not allowed to use and seems people are not talking either, while somehow I am not used to it, I am more used to crowded and noisy Chinese trains.:)

After exactly 100 minutes we arrived at Sendai station, my cousin said she will be there and I just tried to look for her. Everyone looked the same, that is the difficult thing in Asia, in Finland I could always easily find non white people because there were so little amount of them. Called and looked and finally found the face I  wish to see for a long time, she and her husband and her ten year old daughter, but I still think she does not look like a mother whom already has a ten year old daughter.:)

We chatted and laughed, it has been a little bit difficult for her husband and daughter to pick up the chat, since we mostly spoke in Chinese.( Sorry for that,  I will try to study and next time we can practice Japanese!) Lunch was great, then we went to Matsushima Bay (pine-clad islands) - One of the three views of Japan (Nihon sankei). Weather changed from rain to cloudy and not too cold, lovely! The pine tree islands one by one stand in the sea, great view! We also crossed the red bridge to one of them, if we came one month earlier we could see the sakura, so romantic!

We had great time together, but the sun was going down that showed us it was the time to get back.

I stayed with my cousin and her lovely husband and daughter for another two days, we chatted and laughed together, it was really a great time! And she bought me some cooking ingredients and I could  make  my favorite Okonomijaki  at  home. Isn't  it great!
